AFTERMARKET MECCA: Barrett-Jackson is headed to SEMA

Barrett-Jackson’s display at the 2019 SEMA Show.

For years Barrett-Jackson has made its presence known and felt at the world’s premier automotive trade show. For 2021, Barrett-Jackson is ready to reconnect, ready to share and take part in what can only be described as a wonderful celebration of the creativity that lives within the automotive community. For the first time in nearly two years, the 2021 Specialty Equipment Market Association Show – known to most simply as SEMA – will provide a space where manufacturers, builders, fabricators and more can come and share their projects and products with thousands of like-minded gearheads. It has been far too long, and you can bet Barrett-Jackson will be there.

In the past, Barrett-Jackson has delighted attendees by highlighting star cars from our upcoming auctions as well as offering meet-and-greets with famed racing drivers and automotive personalities. We plan on continuing to do this. Expect big things come 2021, as Barrett-Jackson will once again roll out the red carpet for the most premiere classic and custom automobiles headed to auction, as well as share elements of the Barrett-Jackson experience with those in attendance.

At the 2019 SEMA Show, Craig Jackson spoke to the crowd about his famed 1968 Shelby EXP500 prototype, the Green Hornet.

In 2019, the Barrett-Jackson booth was home to three standout machines getting ready to star at the 2020 Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction. The first car, an all-steel 1934 Ford custom roadster, boasted the instantly recognizable black silhouette and sinister stance of a classic hot rod and sold for $183,700 when it crossed the block in Scottsdale. The 427-powered roadster stood in stark contrast to its Munich-based Teutonic neighbor, Paul Walker’s 1995 BMW M3 Lightweight. As of one of five Lightweights owned by the “Fast and Furious” star, the ultimate “analog” driving machine was a clear standout at the show, drawing a large and appreciative crowd of spectators. The M3 would go on to sell for a record shattering $385,000 later in January. Matching the style and pizzazz of the display around it, the third vehicle on display was an LS3-powered Jeff Hayes-built 1967 Corvette Resto-Mod that ended up crossing the block for $418,000!

Among the vehicles that will be on display in Barrett-Jackson’s booth at the 2021 SEMA Show is Buster Posey’s 1967 Ford Mustang Eleanor Tribute Edition, which will be selling at the 2022 Scottsdale Auction with No Reserve.

Speaking of experience, a highlight of the 2019 show for many Ford fans was the long-anticipated unveiling of the legendary 1968 Shelby EXP500 prototype known as the Green Hornet. Proudly introduced by Barrett-Jackson Chairman and CEO Craig Jackson, the unveiling took place at the Shell Pennzoil Pioneering Performance Stage and was met with tremendous fanfare. The full documentary can be found in Barrett-Jackson’s Video Vault or on the Barrett-Jackson YouTube channel.

SEMA celebrates works of motoring art ranging from the one-off to the truly innovative. When it comes to the Barrett-Jackson, expect another great display of head-turning custom creations destined for the 2022 Scottsdale Auction, which will be a culmination of the company’s “Road to 50” celebration to mark a half-century in business.
