HOUSTON-BOUND! Fast facts about Barrett-Jackson’s new event in the Lone Star State

 

If you are headed to Barrett-Jackson’s inaugural 2021 Houston Auction, here is some useful information to help you navigate the world-famous automotive lifestyle event!

The entire event runs for three days, from Thursday, September 16, through Saturday, September 18. It will be held at the NRG Center at NRG Park, a short drive from Houston’s Hobby Airport.Wednesday, September 15, serves as a bidder preview day from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. for credentialed guests (ages 18+) only.Barrett-Jackson’s Opening Night Party – an invitation-only event – will be held at the NRG Center on Wednesday, September 15, from 7 to 10 p.m.Tickets are on sale both in advance on Barrett-Jackson.com and at the NRG Center box office.Automobilia (automotive-related memorabilia) and collector cars will cross the block daily beginning on Thursday, September 16.The hundreds of collectible vehicles and automobilia items – nearly all offered with No Reserve, meaning they will sell to the highest bidder – will be on display for all to see right from the beginning, with many still on-site even after they cross the auction block.In addition to getting an up-close look at some jaw-dropping collector cars, there is plenty to do and see: a vast marketplace with dozens of exhibitors, a wide variety of dining options, interactive exhibits from sponsors and fantastic people-watching (keep your eyes open for celebrities).Rain in the forecast? Don’t worry! The entire auction site is under cover and air-conditioned – except for the Toyota/Dodge Thrill Rides and Ford/Chevrolet Hot Laps on the Barrett-Jackson Performance Track, a not-to-miss attraction located just outside the auction arena.NRG Center events utilize Gate 10 on the corner of Kirby and McNee (the specific address is 8600 Kirby Drive, Houston, TX). Public parking is plentiful; there is also a Houston METRORail station right near the main entrance of the NRG Center, so public transportation is also a good option.TV crews from FYI and History will be on-site throughout the week, providing many hours of live coverage. Alert your friends at home – they may spot you on live television!Like most major sporting events, Barrett-Jackson has a Clear Bag Policy. Guests will only be permitted to enter the auction site with clutch purses that do not exceed 6.5×4.5 inches or clear plastic, vinyl or PVC bags that do not exceed 12x6x12 inches (or one-gallon clear plastic freezer bags). Clear bags will be for sale near the auction entrance. Security officers will be checking all bags at the auction entrance, and guests will be screened for weapons and contraband.Weapons of any type, video cameras, skateboards, drones, coolers, backpacks and/or diaper bags that aren’t clear and within the size constraints indicated above, and animals (with the exception of service animals to assist guests with disabilities) are among the prohibited items.Only one sealed bottle of water (under 17 oz.) will be allowed. Other outside beverages and food are prohibited.Barrett-Jackson will continue to work with state and local governmental authorities to ensure adherence to any COVID-19 restrictions or protocols that may be in place at the time of the event.
